About Us
Reel Buckeye Productions was created as a student organization in September 2005 by 3 students dedicated to video production. Based off of Matt Damon and Ben Afflack's Project Greenlight, Reel Buckeye Productions held a script call in late 2005 in the hopes of creating a feature length movie the following summer. Over 30 scripts were submitted, but Scott Sutton's Treatment was announced as the winner in February 2006 during a live press conference on OSU's student run television station Buckeye TV.
Pre-Production moved into high gear as the script was revised and renamed 3 Easy Payments. After 21-days of shooting in July 2007, 3 Easy Payments moved into Post-Production, including: editing, composing the score, recording foley, and marketing for the eventual private & public premieres of the finished movie. On December 8, 2006, 3 Easy Payments played to over 250 cast, crew, and family members in OSU's Sullivant Hall Dance Theatre as a private premiere. Weeks later, on January 11, 2007, it premiered to the public at the Drexel Gateway Theater. The movie ran through the holiday weekend, playing to over 400 viewers. Future plans for the piece include film festivals, a DVD release party, and hopefully the re-release to local theatres Spring Quarter.
All totaled, over 100 members have worked on this truly collaborative project.
Although smaller in production size, this year's Shorts Project aims to be just as educational, challenging, and collaborative. Scripts were collected until November 22, 2006 for Reel Buckeye's first Shorts Competition. On January 16, 2007, the finalists were announced. Pre-Production will begin in early February with the announcement of this year's Directors & Producers. Casting will be held February 9-10, with crew interviews falling the following week.
